Whisper

I have heard that the closer we are to God the harder Satan fights to pull us away. It occurs to me that perhaps America is fighting to get closer to God because it sure feels like Satan is doing his hardest to pull us away. I have the impression that the voices of nonbelievers are being accentuated and the voice of believers is muted. (Don’t get me started on the media) I have seen posts of people saying the prayer doesn’t work. The thing is, we don’t know how many evils are being thwarted because of prayer because those things don’t make the news.
You see, God doesn’t do the glitz and glamour of the world to get our attention. He is a steady, constant, trustworthy, and not going anywhere being. He doesn’t need to do the showy things, as demonstrated to Elijah.
1 Kings 19:11-13 “The Lord said, ‘Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by.’ Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind the was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper. When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave.”
A gentle whisper. Have you heard it? I bet you have. Did you recognize it? Maybe, maybe not. If you have ever attempted to focus on something while there is noise in the room, you know how difficult those distractions can be to get past. Yet, that is the intensity of focus we need with the leading of God, to be so focused that we pay no attention to the distractions.
When you watch (if you watch) the news and something doesn’t add up; it is a whisper. When you are in an uncomfortable situation and you feel the need to escape; it is a whisper. God will never ask you to do anything that goes against his word, if you know his word you can easily distinguish his direction. America and the world need to draw close to God, quell the commotion and listen to Him whisper. Keep praying!

  1. Thank you very much for your continued blogging. Most days as I sit and stare at the screen wondering where to turn your blog rescues and gets the ball rolling. There is a saying that: "no news is good news". That is because 90% of it is bad news. Gossip finds its seeds from bad news. Nothing much has changed through the course of human history. Satan continues to do a very good job of ruining paradise. But thankfully when we die, heaven is a way out of the mess.
